The City of Irvine in partnership with PPE Unite announced the launch of the first PPE-Up Mobile Drive-thru event at the Orange County Great Park. On Saturday, April 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mobile PPE-Up Drive-thru event will provide a free 30-day supply of personal protective gear to all eligible small-business owners and their employees in Orange County. The Irvine event will adhere to all Orange County health, safety, and social distancing guidelines. Attendees are asked to stay in their vehicles the entire time. All registered business will receive supplies on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Pre-registration is required.

“The City of Irvine prides itself when it comes to public-private partnerships to support our residents and businesses,” says Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “I am excited about our partnership with PPE Unite to help bring much needed PPE for our business community. It's a first step in equipping our businesses for a successful reopening.”

This event is a collaboration among Irvine, PPE Unite, the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce, and local supporting municipalities. It is the latest effort to distribute more than 20 million units of free personal protection equipment to keep local organizations safe as state and local health officials lift COVID-19 restrictions and businesses begin re-opening.

“As OC businesses start opening back up and recovering from the health crisis, it’s more important than ever to have available PPE at their disposal to keep their employees and customers safe,” says Jay Tsao, co-founder of PPE Unite. “Our goal is to help provide some relief and reduce the financial burdens to their bottom line with the rising cost of these critical supplies. Use of PPE help workers feel safer, prevent spreading of illness, and keep their jobs – ultimately, boosting productivity and accelerating community reopening.”

PPE Unite is a partnership among local, state, and private entities. Its distribution program through mobile drive-thru events helps support small business owners and provides them with critical supplies needed to create a safe environment for workers and staff. To date, more than thirty thousand small businesses have signed up to receive their free PPE materials.

This PPE Unite program for Orange County is made possible through a partnership between Logisticom Inc., the Small Business Development Center, the California Office of Emergency Services, the Office of Small Business Advocate, and California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development.
