Irvine’s mass vaccination site launches this Monday, April 26. The drive-thru clinic in the Great Park will offer Irvinites, and residents throughout Orange County, with convenient access to COVID vaccines from the comfort of their vehicles.

Irvine is partnering with Providence (a national nonprofit health system), Edwards Lifesciences (an Irvine-based medical technology company), and the cities of Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, and Tustin to open and operate the mass vax clinic.

“My unwavering commitment to bring a vaccine clinic to Irvine serving the needs of Irvine residents has come to fruition,” says Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “Through my COVID-19 Task Force and regional City partnerships, we will meet the needs of Irvine and Orange County residents by providing easy and convenient access to this life-saving vaccine. This is a pivotal step in returning our city to a prosperous and thriving community and destination.”

To ensure smooth operation of the site, Irvine, Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, and Tustin will provide city resources including public safety and equipment. Through targeted outreach and multilingual communications, Irvine aims to overcome accessibility challenges and immunization hesitancy within our community. Providence clinical and operations teams will staff the mass vax clinic.

“Providence is committed to providing Orange County residents with access to the vaccine, particularly our most vulnerable communities that are bearing the brunt of this virus, and our strong partnerships are making that possible,” says Erik G. Wexler, president of operations and strategy at Providence - South. “Working with the dedicated staff at Edwards and the cities of Irvine, Santa Ana, Costa Mesa and Tustin to open these two sites helps us increase our capacity to deliver more vaccine doses and keep our communities healthy.”
